Merrick Route
- Start at the Bruce's Stone car park (NX 415 804)
- Follow the road downhill, over the Buchan bridge and past the waterfalls
- You'll come to a stile on your left which takes you onto a path on the side of Buchan Hill, and then follows the Gairland Burn towards Loch Valley
- From there, continue to follow various faint paths on the west side of Loch Neldricken and Loch Arron and then head for the south-west tip of Loch Enoch
- Then you just have to slog up Redstone Rig to the trig point on Merrick (NX 427 855)
- From Merrick, head over the Neive of the Spit (careful of the steep ground!) to Benyellary (NX 414 839)
- Take the path that leads initially south-west off Benyellary and follow it down through the trees to the Culsharg both (NX 415 821)
- From there, follow the path south by the Buchan Burn back to the car park
NB - This is not intended to be a full and complete route description, merely a representation of the general route taken to take the accompanying photographs. Please remember that hillwalking is a potentially dangerous activity and that there is no substitute for adequate skills in navigation by map and compass.
