Glen Lyon Route

  1. Start at the car park by the phone box in Invervar (NN 666 482)
  2. Cross the road and follow the track beside the burn through the forest. (If you take the wrong track and end up in someone's driveway, take a minute to throw some sticks for the friendly labradors.)
  3. Cross the old bridge on the left at the end of the trees (NN 659 494)
  4. Head west-south-west on to the ridge and then follow it to the summit of Carn Gorm
  5. Descend north-by-east, bypass An Sgorr, and then head north-east up Meall Garbh from the col
  6. You can now follow a long line of rusty fence posts to Carn Mairg
  7. Drop to the col between Carn Mairg and Meall Liath. Head first south, then south-east to the summit of Meall na Aighean
  8. Descend west initially and follow the ridge to the path beside Allt Coire a Chearcaill which leads you back to the track near the woods
  9. From there, follow the track you started on back to Invervar
